Artist Scene In Toronto: Gareth Lichty, Sculptor

Gareth Lichty is a structural sculptor with innovative visions. His designs work well at the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition where the bright sunshine highlights the outlines of his wood sculptures and give contrast and dinosaur-skin depth to the texture of his clay pieces which like giant armadillo or thick-skinned gila monsters. There is certainly a sense of material and form in his works. Gareth explains his point of attack in this video:

One senses an almost Transformers-like sense of exploration and play in Gareth’s works. Yet along with this sense of fun there is also strong design and surprising shape twists to catch your mind’s organic as well as structural eye. See more of Gareth’s form and functional works here and also here at the Peak Gallery .
